Bringing a wealth of clinical knowledge and leadership experience to provide oversight and support to the GRS multidisciplinary team, Dr Sai Achuthan is a distinguished psychiatrist specialising in rehabilitation psychiatry, personality disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions. His extensive academic credentials include MBBS, MRCPsych, Fellowship in Addiction Medicine (FIAM), Master’s in Clinical Psychiatry, and Post Graduate Diplomas in Clinical Psychiatry and Business Administration. He also holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care and is currently completing his MBA.
Dr Achuthan serves as the Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatry South West Division and Deputy Regional Advisor, and has established himself as an expert in complex mental healthcare, particularly in rehabilitation psychiatry, personality disorder and psychiatric specialist assessment. He has extensive experience in comprehensive ADHD and ASD assessments, combining clinical expertise with a person-centred approach to care. His work in residential facilities has been instrumental in developing innovative treatment approaches for individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and complex personality disorders.
Dr. Achuthan serves as a reviewer for the Sushruta Journal of Health Policy and Opinion and has published numerous articles in both academic journals and local newspapers, actively contributing to mental health awareness and education. His passion for rehabilitation psychiatry is reflected in his pioneering implementation of Positive Behaviour Support training and development of comprehensive care frameworks.
He is an approved clinician under the Mental Health Act and serves as Vice Chair of the Mental Health Act Approval Panel South England, furthering his commitment to advancing mental health care standards.
